Course Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Language proficiency: Must be proficient in English to effectively communicate with residents and healthcare team members. Oregon State Board of Nursing certification test is only offered in the English language at a 6th grade level.
- The Oregon State Board of Nursing required course hours are mandatory
Free Nursing Assistant Training
- In person training four days per week
- Classroom/lab is a total of ten 7 ½ -hour days
- Clinical placement is a total of five 8-hour days
- Two certification testing preparation days
- Onsite Oregon State Board of Nursing certification testing
- Detailed schedule provided at application
Job placement support
- Employment opportunities are available with one of our Sapphire locations upon successful completion of the course.

Paula Love
Paula Love is a Program Director with over three decades of experience in the nursing field. Starting as a caregiver in 1989, they became a Registered Nurse (RN) in 2003, earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in 2013, and most recently, completed a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a focus in Nursing Informatics in 2023.

When not working, Paula enjoys attending concerts and has a deep love for music.
Patty Winter
Patty’s career in healthcare began at age 19 as a nursing assistant in Long term care. This sparked her career in nursing, first as an LPN, and later, in 1990, as a registered nurse. Patty worked as a bedside nurse for a few years before discovering her passion and teaching.

By 2008 she was a self-employed instructor writing curriculums and teaching classes on basic nursing, enhanced care skills, end of life care and grief as a part of the Oregon Homecare Commission, Providence Compassion Team and Chalice of Repose Project. A family health crisis put and end to the traveling and teaching and In January of 2020 she began teaching Nursing Assistant classes. She has graduated over 150 people to date. Patty’s interests include time with family, traveling to Japan, and staying active.

Now in her role as Student Affairs Coordinator, Viansa is dedicated to assisting future medical professionals succeed and thrive in their careers.
Outside of work Viansa loves being outdoors, biking, paddleboarding, reading, and spending time with her animals.
